Law Of Giving
at idea enginee®s, we also believe that return on ideas can extend to the law of giving. this is why we dedicate a sizeable portion of our time to pro-bono work for a number of charitable organisations that are making a meaningful difference to the future of south africa, such as:
One small step
For over ten years, we’ve supported Unity Gallery’s African Project, which creates design items out of waste.
During this time, Patrick Mabena, an employee, has helped create the project’s beautiful presentation boxes. Four years ago, Patrick became the father of twins. Sadly, one – Thabo – was born with a condition called Arthrogryposis, which results in dramatically curved hands and feet.
It was initially thought that Thabo would never walk. However, we’ve recently discovered that with the right orthotic equipment it is possible to help Thabo become more mobile, and significantly independent. This year we will be using our Festive Season Fund to pay for the development of specialised equipment to help Thabo, and his family, take those crucial first steps. And it’s due to your support and friendship over the year that we are able to make a meaningful difference in Thabo’s life. Thank you.
It has been a pleasure working with you. Our warmest wishes to you and your family over the holidays. May you have a relaxing and rewarding break and may you return to the New Year full of energy for the challenges ahead!
If you’d like to help Thabo take his first steps to independence, please send your donation to Unity Design, FNB Cresta, Account number 51441136277, Branch Code 254905, Depositor reference: One small step
The Maharishi Invincible Institute
An extraordinary, one-of-a-kind university where students ‘pay’ for their education by working in data capture and call centres, situated within the Campus, while studying for their degrees. The revenues generated cover the running expenses of the centres and 100% of any surplus earned goes directly to the University to finance the tuition of the students. It is a self-sustaining model that has garnered awards and praise all over the world for its founder Dr Taddy Bletcher. For more information, go to www.maharishischoolsa.org
AfriCan – An Employment Project
Through the continued support of companies such as Idea Engineers, AfriCan is able to offer employment opportunities to people who would otherwise have little in the way of prospects. AfriCan products are original designs using materials from the streets of Johannesburg. AfriCan represents the new era of South African craft – an era that celebrates the reality of life in Africa, and harnesses the power and spirit of the people who live here.
